About This Trip
Walk on sugar White sandy beaches while shell collecting. Shells are abundant and you will often find clams, conch, scallops, oysters, cones, Sand Dollars, and much more! Always inspect your shell to make sure it’s not occupied. No live shell taking is permitted. For shell collecting, we include a mesh bag.

The Ceriths, commonly known as horned shells are found on the beach and vary in size. The most common varieties include Varicose (with many small joints), Grass which is thick-shelled but has open pores to allow moisture out when needed; Fly Speck can be spiky or crested while Dark bears resemblance between a snail’s shell with no eyespots present at all atop its body.

Fighting conchs are the type of conch most commonly found on beaches. While alive, the seashell is a bright orange, but will fade under the bright tropical sunshine.

Lightning whelks are large, distinctive sea snail with an interesting shell. They can grow up to 16 inches long and come in left-handed or sinistral shells! This species was used by early island natives for food and tools like lamps
